With the financial support of Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), EPD will implement the project titled “Preventing the spread of COVID-19 through awareness raising, advocacy campaign, mobilization of religious leaders, community elders & women activists; and launching 16-days of activism campaign on Gender Based Violence (GBV) to raise awareness and assess the GBV status during COVID-19” in five provinces of Afghanistan— Nangarhar, Kandahar, Kabul, Herat and Balkh. This project is an extension to our previous project “Preventing the spread of Covid-19 through awareness raising, advocacy and mobilization of religious leaders, community elders and women activists” which was successfully implemented and a number of activities were conducted to fight Covid-19 during the peak time of Covid-19 in Afghanistan (July). Furthermore, it also provided financial support in the form of small grants for small businesses to women who were impacted by Covid-19. The first phase of the project ran from July 11, 2020 to October 10, 2020, while the second phase will run from October 11, 2020 to December 30, 2020.
