{"id":2345,"date":"2014-11-26T15:50:40","date_gmt":"2014-11-26T11:20:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epd-afg.org\/?p=2345"},"modified":"2015-04-09T10:52:08","modified_gmt":"2015-04-09T06:22:08","slug":"increasing-community-awareness-and-fostering-engagement-to-strengthen-access-to-justice-for-women-training-khatibs-and-community-members-in-panjshir","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.epd-afg.org\/?p=2345","title":{"rendered":"Strengthening Access to Justice for Women Affected by Violence \u2013 Training in Panjshir"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.epd-afg.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/fac-workshop-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2346\" src=\"http:\/\/www.epd-afg.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/fac-workshop-1-1000x562.jpg\" alt=\"fac workshop 1\" width=\"325\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.epdo-afg.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/fac-workshop-1-1000x562.jpg 1000w, http:\/\/www.epdo-afg.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/fac-workshop-1-2000x1125.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 325px) 100vw, 325px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As part of a year-long project to strengthen access to justice for women affected by violence, EPD organized several trainings and workshops in Panjshir province on the Elimination of Violence Against Women (EVAW) Law for 20 <em>khatibs<\/em>, 16 female community-dialogue group (CDG) facilitators and 16 male CDG facilitators as a means to increase community awareness and engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On 9 and 10 November, two days of training workshops were held for 20 <em>khatibs<\/em> in Panjshir province, covering the districts of Rokha, Shutul and Anaba. The aim was to increase community awareness about constraints for women to have access to justice, women\u2019s rights under the EVAW law and the value of women\u2019s participation in public life, by sensitizing <em>khatibs<\/em> on these issues as they represent an important source of information for local populations. In addition, two days of Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions were held for 16 male and 16 female CDG facilitators on the EVAW law in Panjshir province on 11 and 12 November, covering the same districts as the <em>khatib<\/em> training. These ToTs were aimed to train influential members of the community in order for them to train CDG members in their respective communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.epd-afg.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/SAM_2193.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2347\" src=\"http:\/\/www.epd-afg.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/SAM_2193-1000x562.jpg\" alt=\"SAM_2193\" width=\"325\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.epdo-afg.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/SAM_2193-1000x562.jpg 1000w, http:\/\/www.epdo-afg.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/SAM_2193-2000x1125.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 325px) 100vw, 325px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Future training sessions will entail similar activities as well as selecting and training mobile trainers on the EVAW law and women\u2019s rights in Islam who will provide lectures on women\u2019s rights issues to students in schools and Madrassas as educators.
